About diplomatic ranks
This Law establishes diplomatic ranks for diplomatic workers of Turkmenistan according to the universally recognized norms of international law.
Article 1. In Turkmenistan the following diplomatic ranks are established: Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary; Minister extraordinary and plenipotentiary; adviser; first secretary; second secretary; third secretary; attache,
Article 2. Diplomatic ranks of the Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary, Minister extraordinary and plenipotentiary are appropriated by the President of Turkmenistan.
Other diplomatic ranks are appropriated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan based on the recommendation of certifying commission of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
Article 3. Diplomatic ranks of the Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary, Minister extraordinary and plenipotentiary are appropriated to heads of diplomatic and other representations of Turkmenistan abroad, and also to heads and ranking officers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. In some cases diplomatic ranks of the Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary, Minister extraordinary and plenipotentiary can be appropriated to ranking officers of the supreme bodies of the government and management of Turkmenistan.
Article 4. The diplomatic rank of the attache is appropriated to person who worked on diplomatic service at least one year. The next diplomatic ranks are appropriated to diplomatic employees depending on qualification and successful service as in the office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, so in diplomatic and other representations.
Turkmenistan abroad: at least two years concerning diplomatic ranks of the third secretary and the second secretary, at least three years concerning the first secretary and the adviser. For considerable achievements in work diplomatic workers can be provided to assignment of higher diplomatic rank of earlier specified term.
