This Law determines the legal basis of stores organization, completing, accounting, use of documents of National Archive Fund of Turkmenistan and other archive documents, and also managements of archives for the benefit of society, the states and citizens.
The legislation of Turkmenistan on archives and archiving consists of this Law and other regulatory legal acts of Turkmenistan regulating questions of archiving.
In this Law the following basic concepts are applied:
archiving - activities of the state, legal entities and physical persons for storage, completing, accounting and use of documents of National Archive Fund of Turkmenistan and other archive documents, and also for management of archives;
the document - material object with information on objects of reality and on cogitative activities of the person fixed on it by means of the letter, graphics, the photo, video and sound recordings or in a different way on any medium;
the archive document - the document kept or which is subject to preserving owing to its importance for society, the state, citizens;
audiovisual documents - film, video, phono - the documentary photographs and their combinations created or reproduced on any kinds of carriers;
documents on staff - complex of the documents created in the course of documentation of office, employment or other social legal relationship of citizens and legal entities;
the document of National Archive Fund of Turkmenistan - the archive document which passed the examination of value, delivered on the state accounting and subject to permanent storage;
