Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on activities of boundary representatives

The government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan which further are referred to as with the Parties

aiming to develop good-neighbourhood and to support cooperation on providing the mode of the Russian-Kazakhstan frontier (further - frontier),

recognizing the inalienable right of both independent states to take measures for protection of the frontiers,

noting need of participation of boundary representatives of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan for the prevention of borderline cases, and in case of their origin - in ensuring bystry investigation and settlement of those,

agreed as follows:

Article 1

Boundary representatives and deputy boundary representatives of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan are appointed according to legislations of the states of the Parties. Inform each other on appointment of boundary representatives and their deputies of the Party through diplomatic channels with indication of surnames, names and middle names, sites of activities and places of stay.

In case of fulfillment of duties of boundary representatives deputy boundary representatives have the rights which are granted to boundary representatives.

Article 2

Boundary representatives carry out the obligations jointly with each other according to legislations of the states and international treaties which participants are the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan, and also the powers determined by this agreement within the sites of the Russian-Kazakhstan frontier determined by the Protocol on sites of activities of boundary representatives (Appendix N 1).

Written powers (Appendix N 2) are issued:

to boundary representatives of the Russian Federation and their deputies - the Director of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation;
