About the museums and museum fund

This Law establishes legal regulation of activities of the museums in the Republic of Tajikistan, provides and protects constitutional rights of citizens on use of the museum pieces and museum collections included in structure of Museum fund of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Chapter 1. General provisions

Article 1. Basic concepts

In this Law the following basic concepts are used:

the museum - non-commercial organization which is created for the purpose of identification, completing, research, documentation, accounting, storage, collecting and promotion of historical and cultural heritage;

cultural values - the exhibits reflecting national and universal history and culture which are collected and stored in the state, non-state museums and personal collections;

museum pieces - cultural values which quality, history and special signs do necessary for society their purchase, preserving, studying and public representation;

museum fund - set of the museum pieces and museum collections residing in the territory of Tajikistan;

procurement commission - advisory and expert body of the museum which considers questions of selection or acquisition of exhibits of museum value;

purchase of exhibits - one of fixed assets of collection and storage of historical and cultural heritage;

scientific examination - the museum document and conclusion of initial research of exhibit which confirms need of its purchase for the museum;
