summing up the results of the negotiations which took place during the state visit of the President of the Republic of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus to the Republic of Kazakhstan on May 10-12, 2000, being guided by regulations of the Contract between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Lithuania on mutual understanding and cooperation made on November 7, 1993 in the city of Almaty and also based on earlier reached two-way deals,

aiming at further development and deepening of friendship in the spirit of equal and mutually beneficial cooperation in the areas which are of mutual interest

confirming the commitment to the universally recognized norms of international law, to the purposes and the principles of Articles of organization of the United Nations, provisions of the Helsinki Final act and other documents of Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, we declare as follows:

we emphasize important, priority nature of the friendship between two states having considerable potential in political, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres;

we consider development of bilateral cooperation as guarantee of further strengthening of the world and stability in regional and global scale;

we note the increased need of closer interaction within the international organizations which is based on stable development and economic prosperity of the countries of the world community;

we confirm aspiration to development of cooperation and rapprochement with the leading European associations and the organizations, in particular, with the European Union, the Council of Europe, and we express readiness to render assistance each other in this sphere;
