The legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan on prevention of the disease caused by human immunodeficiency virus (HIV infection) consists of this Law and other acts of the legislation.
If the international treaty of the Republic of Uzbekistan establishes other rules, than those which are stipulated by the legislation the Republic of Uzbekistan about prevention of the disease caused by human immunodeficiency virus (HIV infection) then are applied rules of the international treaty.
In this Law the following basic concepts are applied:
HIV infection - especially dangerous infectious disease caused by human immunodeficiency virus;
HIV-positive people - persons infected with human immunodeficiency virus;
AIDS - acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, terminal (final) stage of HIV infection.
Citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and also the foreign citizens and persons without citizenship living or being in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan have the right to voluntary, anonymous medical examination to HIV infection/AIDS with maintaining confidentiality.
The procedure for medical examination on HIV infection/AIDS is established by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan and is subject to publication.
