The purpose of this Law is regulation of the relations in the field of protection, protection, cultivations, reproduction, recovery, increase in productivity and use of the woods.
The forest legislation consists of this Law and other acts of the legislation.
The relations in the field of use of the woods connected with use and protection of lands, waters, subsoil, plant and animal life are regulated by the relevant legislation.
If the international treaty of the Republic of Uzbekistan establishes other rules, than those which are provided by the forest legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan then are applied rules of the international treaty.
The woods carry out mainly ecological (soil-saving, the water preserving, protection of plant and animal life and other natural resources, protective, sanitary and hygienic, improving, recreational) and social and economic functions.
In this Law the following basic concepts are applied:
the wood - the set of trees, bushes and other natural objects (the earth, subsoil, waters, plant and animal life, atmospheric air) on lands of forest fund which is interacting and making impact on the environment, having ecological and social and economic value;
afforestation - landing and cultivation of trees and bushes on the lands of forest fund which are not covered with the wood;
forest conservation - the activities directed to prevention of negative impacts on the woods;
reproduction of the woods - creating favorable conditions for growth in the environment of trees and bushes and plantatsionny landing of seeds and saplings of forest trees on lands of forest fund;
forest users - the legal entities and physical persons using the wood;
